Sources: Chelsea accelerate plans for three January signings
Chelsea are preparing for a busy January transfer window with up to three signings expected to arrive, sources have told Football Insider.
Senior figures at Stamford Bridge expect the London club to be active again in the transfer window to strengthen Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the second half of the season.
As many as three new signings are expected, with a new centre-forward and goalkeeper the priority for Chelsea’s recruitment team.
Nicolas Jackson has struggled to settle in since his £32million move from Villarreal in the summer, with the 22-year-old scoring seven times in 18 appearances across all competitions.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (11 December) that Chelsea have three strikers shortlisted for January with Ivan Toney one of their targets.
Robert Sanchez’s injury during the 2-0 loss against Everton has also left the Londoners short in the goalkeeping department.

It is understood that Chelsea’s transfer plans do depend on outgoings with the futures of multiple senior stars currently up in the air.
According to reports, Chelsea are considering the sale of midfielder Conor Gallagher next month in an attempt to raise funds.
If sales are made next month, then Chelsea expect new signings to arrive at Stamford Bridge to bolster Pochettino’s squad.
The Blues currently sit 12th in the league table after 16 games and are already 14 points adrift from the top four positions.
