Sources: Club Brugge agree to sign Sheffield United star Sander Berge

Club Brugge have agreed to sign Sheffield United star Sander Berge, sources have told Football Insider.

The Champions League club are set to complete the capture of the Norway international, 24, by the transfer deadline.

Brugge are putting the finishing touches to a deal for Berge after agreeing personal terms with the player.

Sheffield United are working on securing a replacement for their star midfielder and are confident of doing so.

The 24-year-old was in the starting lineup for the Blades’ 4-0 win over Reading on Tuesday (30 August).

The Norway international provided the assist for Iliman Ndiaye’s goal.

The midfielder has made eight appearances for the South Yorkshire club so far this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists during those outings.

Berge currently has two years left on his contract at Bramall Lane.

He joined Sheffield United from KRC Genk in 2020.

The defensive midfielder made 34 appearances for Paul Heckingbottom’s side last season.

During those outings he scored six goals and provided four assists.

The Championship club have made five new signings this summer.

There are three midfield arrivals, including James McAtee and Tommy Doyle from Man City’s youth team.

Brugge meanwhile are currently third in the Belgian Pro League.

Sheffield United

The Belgian club face Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday (7 September).

The side have already strengthened their midfield options this summer with Casper Nielsen from Union Saint-Gilloise and Raphael Onyedika from FC Midtjylland.
