Sources: Club make decision on signing West Ham goalkeeper Brian Kinnear

Queen’s Park have chosen not to sign West Ham goalkeeper Brian Kinnear on loan this season, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old played in a trial game for the Scottish Championship side against Hibernian on Tuesday so that manager Owen Coyle could take a look at him at close quarters.

Coyle has decided against signing the Scottish shot-stopper and will instead pursue other targets.

Kinnear is of interest to a number of clubs and could still leave on loan this summer.

The goalkeeper has featured for West Ham’s under-23s in pre-season, including starts against Sporting Lisbon and Bournemouth.

The Hammers signed Kinnear in August 2021 following his release from Rangers.

The goalkeeper has never made a senior appearance for David Moyes’ side and has featured exclusively for West Ham’s under-23s.

Kinnear came through the ranks at Rangers.

He never made a senior appearance for the Glasgow club but was included in their Europa League squad under Steven Gerrard.

The former Scotland under-21 international spent the back end of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Annan Athletic.

He made two appearances for the Scottish League Two side.

West Ham have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the permanent signing of Alphonse Areola this summer.
