Sources: Clubs lining up to sign big-name Leeds United duo

Leeds United duo Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto are already attracting interest with clubs ready to pull the trigger if the Whites are relegated, sources have told Football Insider.

Javi Gracia’s side are still under threat of dropping to the Championship despite moving up to 14th place with a win over Nottingham Forest last time out.

If Leeds are relegated to the second tier the Yorkshire giants will have to reduce their squad size and trim their wage bill.

Bamford, who joined the club in the Championship in 2018, earns a reported wage of £70,000-a-week at Elland Road – the second-highest salary of anyone at the club.

The England international, 29, has notched 21 goals and 12 assists in 66 appearances for Leeds since their return to the Premier League in 2020.

Meanwhile, Gnonto has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League after his arrival in Yorkshire in 2022.

The Italy international, 19, has notched four goals and three assists across 20 appearances for Leeds this term.

Gnonto is almost certain to net the Whites a healthy profit after he joined the club for a fee which could rise to over £10million just last summer.

Fellow striker Rodrigo is the highest earner at Elland Road – with his reported £100,000-a-week contract set to expire in 2024.
