Sources: Coventry City block Frank Lampard from joining Premier League club
Coventry City are determined to ensure that they can keep hold of manager Frank Lampard after an impressive start to the season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Sky Blues have already raced into a 10-point lead at the summit of the Championship table, and they have still lost just one of their opening 18 league games.
Lampard was briefly linked with the Rangers job earlier in the season, and sources are now indicating that his current club wouldn’t even consider letting him leave at the moment.
Any potential move from a Premier League outfit will be blocked by high-flying Coventry.
The Midlands outfit have been away from the Premier League since the 2000-01 campaign, but there is a genuine hope that they could be about to bring that spell to a close this term.

Frank Lampard ‘on the radar’ of Premier League clubs
Lampard’s Coventry side beat Charlton 3-1 on Saturday, as they extended their winning run to an impressive five games in the second tier.
The Midlands outfit have hit the headlines for all the right reasons so far in 2025-26, and there are no signs of their campaign hitting the rocks any time soon.
However, City’s eye-catching start to the season is attracting prying glances from elsewhere, with sources suggesting to Football Insider that their boss is already “on the radar” of several Premier League clubs.

Nevertheless, Coventry are clear that they do not want to lose Lampard under any circumstances, while he is also understood to be committed to finishing the job at hand at the CBS Arena.
Lampard’s managerial record in the Premier League
Football Insider revealed at the start of November that Coventry are facing interest from Leeds in Haji Wright, who has enjoyed another bright campaign so far with eight goals from 14 appearances.
Given the start that the Sky Blues have made this term, it is no surprise to see Premier League clubs circling around both their star players and their manager.
| Club | Games | W | D | L | Win % |
| Chelsea (inc. caretaker) | 95 | 45 | 17 | 33 | 47.37% |
| Everton | 44 | 12 | 8 | 24 | 27.27% |
| Total (PL only) | 104 | 38 | 21 | 45 | 36.54% |
In Lampard’s case, there is even already proof that he has what it takes to manage in the top-flight, which his previous exploits can prove.
The 47-year-old previously took charge of both Chelsea and Everton earlier in his managerial career, and boasts a win percentage of over 36 per cent in the Premier League.
That extends to an excellent 52 per cent in the Championship, which further emphasises the idea that he is one of the brightest managers around in the EFL at the moment.
Lampard would be a big coup for teams outside the ‘big six,’ and as a result, it is no surprise to see interest mounting in him.
