Sources: Crystal Palace close in on Lampard and set sights on signing three Chelsea stars
Crystal Palace are close to agreeing a deal with Frank Lampard after holding extensive talks, Football Insider understands.
The former Chelsea manager is now the favourite to succeed Roy Hodgson ahead of the likes of Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
A Palace source told Football Insider that chairman Steve Parish wants to alter the mindset of players fixed on playing one way under Hodgson.
Parish wants a new manager to tweak the system and implement a more attractive playing style and believes that Lampard could be the man to do both those things.
Critically, he also believes the former midfielder could help recruit some fringe stars from Chelsea.
Lampard retains a good relationship with Russian owner Roman Abramovich and that could help smooth the way for up to three players to move from west to south London.

The 106-cap England man was relieved of his duties at Stanford Bridge in January after one-and-a-half seasons in the dugout.
In a statement following his dismissal, Abramovich wrote: “He [Lampard] is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”
It was confirmed on Tuesday that Hodgson would step down after four years as manager at Selhurst Park.
His side looks set to finish in mid-table this season as they have done in each of Hodgson’s campaigns at the helm.
Parish will hope Lampard’s emphasis on youth and expansive football can propel Palace to dizzy new heights.
That might give him an edge over the likes of Dyche, who Football Insider learned is among the frontrunners for the job in April.
