Sources: Crystal Palace submitting new Adam Wharton bid as they look to blow Tottenham out of the water

Crystal Palace are not giving up on a deal for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton as they look to beat Tottenham to his signature, sources have told Football Insider.

The Selhurst Park outfit have already had an £18.5million offer for the 19-year-old rejected by Blackburn this month.

Nevertheless, sources have told Football Insider that Palace remain “very keen” to agree a deal for Wharton before next week’s transfer deadline (1 February).

Football Insider first revealed the Eagles’ interest in Wharton earlier this month along with that of Spurs (8 January) – and the Croydon club have now formalised that interest with a bid.

Blackburn are reluctant to lose the teenager this month and will hold out for a £25million offer – a valuation that Palace may be unable to meet.

But Roy Hodgson’s side are submitting an improved bid over the £18.5million already rejected and are hopeful of agreeing a deal.

Wharton signed a fresh long-term contract at Ewood Park just last month, keeping him at the club until June 2028.

The youngster, who plays for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Blackburn side alongside brother Scott, has made 29 appearances this term – notching two goals and three assists.

He has played 51 times for his boyhood club in total since making his first-team breakthrough in the 2022-23 campaign.

The England Under-20 international can play in a variety of midfield roles – including in a holding role and as a more attacking midfielder.
