Sources: Dara O’Shea agrees four-year Burnley deal after West Brom accept offer

Dara O’Shea has agreed a four-year deal with Burnley after West Brom accepted their £7million bid, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old centre-back is set to undergo a medical on Friday (23 June) ahead of a move to Turf Moor.

The newly-promoted Premier League side has already agreed personal terms with the Republic of Ireland international.

A deal should be completed for the defender in the coming hours as Vincent Kompany looks to bolster his backline.

O’Shea is set to become the second permanent signing for Kompany ahead of their first Premier League fixture against champions Man City on 11 August.

The Clarets have already wrapped up a permanent deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for defender Jordan Beyer after his loan at Turf Moor in their title-winning season.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (19 June) that Burnley have submitted a loan offer for Borussia Dortmund defender Soumaila Coulibaly – who is highly regarded at the German giants.

Moves for O’Shea and Coulibaly come after standout centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis returned to parent club Man City after a stellar season-long loan at Burnley in the 2022-23 campaign.

19-cap Republic of Ireland international O’Shea made 41 appearances across all competitions for West Brom in the 2022-23 campaign, notching two goals and one assist.

He came through the youth ranks at The Hawthorns after moving over from Ireland as a teenager, and has gone on to play 107 times for the club.

O’Shea already has top-flight experience after making 28 Premier League appearances for West Brom as they were relegated in the 2020-21 season.

It has been widely reported that the Baggies need to sell their top assets in the summer window in order to stay afloat after missing out on play-off qualification in the 2022-23 campaign.
