Sources: Door opens for West Ham to accept Gianluca Scamacca offer
West Ham could be open to selling striker Gianluca Scamacca after his disappointing first season at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Clubs from the 24-year-old’s native Italy are expected to launch formal interest in his services this summer.
Scamacca cost a reported £35.5million when he joined from Sassuolo just last summer but he is yet to live up to expectations in a West Ham shirt.
The Irons are already working on adding striking reinforcements in the summer window, and it is believed a new arrival could open the door to a potential exit for the Italy international.
Also a factor in Scamacca’s future is uncertainty hanging over West Ham’s Premier League status and the future of manager David Moyes.
The 24-year-old has managed just eight goals in 27 appearances so far in the 2022-23 campaign – and has struggled for game time since the World Cup.
He has scored just three goals in the Premier League – with the rest of his strikes coming in the Europa Conference League.
The forward scored 16 times in 38 outings in Serie A last term to persuade West Ham to bring him to England.
Scamacca signed a contract keeping him at the club until June 2027 when he joined the club last year (2022).
The striker earns a reported wage of £90,000-a-week at the London Stadium.
West Ham are remain locked in the fight against relegation to the Championship despite recent wins over Southampton and Fulham.

The Irons sit 14th in the table – three points above the drop zone with eight games to play this term.
Scamacca hasn’t played for the Londoners since 1 March.
