Odsonne Edouard could quit Celtic this summer for as little as £8million, Football Insider understands.

The Hoops are facing a major battle to secure their asking price for the French striker, 23, as he enters the final year of his contract this summer.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Edouard's camp believe he can secure a Celtic exit for £8-10million in the upcoming transfer window.

This is due to a multitude of factors, including the time remaining on his contract, his mixed form and a market distorted by the pandemic.

It would be a crushing blow to Celtic to lose their prize asset for such a relatively small fee.

The Scottish giants had slapped a £40million price tag on Edouard last summer to ward off suitors on the back of his sensational player-of-the-year campaign.

That kept him at the club but backfired as his form plummeted this form almost as much as his valuation.

Celtic had hoped to secure a fee similar to the club-record price paid by Arsenal for Kieran Tierney in the summer of 2019.

Edouard has made it clear to the Celtic board he wants to leave.

The club made multiple attempts in the last year to tie their prize asset to a new contract but he knocked them back.

Like Tierney, Edouard has Premier League ambitions and has had interest in the past from Leicester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

He has scored 11 goals from 23 matches this season but his performances have been inconsistent.
