Sources: Everton chief Moshiri braced for Ancelotti offers from two giants
Everton fear Real Madrid and Barcelona could be set to go head-to-head for Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Spanish giants are both looking at a potential manager change as Atletico Madrid are one point away from winning the La Liga title going in to the final day this weekend.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that club chiefs including owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright are worried about losing Ancelotti.
The three-times Champions League winning manager is on Real’s list of targets in case Zinedine Zidane walks away in the summer.
Barcelona could also turn to Ancelotti as the prospect grows that Ronald Koeman could be sacked at the end of the campaign.
The Everton board is well aware of both possibilities and is said to be extremely concerned about the prospect of losing the top earner, including the players, at the club.
There is some dissatisfaction among Everton fans about how an immensely promising start to the season has failed to live up to expectations.
The home record, in which nine defeats have been recorded, was dubbed “embarrassing” by the manager.
Ancelotti’s side still have a chance of securing a European spot but dropped to ninth in the Premier League after Tuesday’s results.
Nevertheless, the board are fully behind Ancelotti and are convinced the best chance of achieving their ambitions is with him in charge.
It was regarded as a huge coup for Moshiri and company when he was appointed in December 2019 on a four-and-a-half year deal.
Ancelotti has previously had a two-year spell in charge of Real.
He won the Champions League with Madrid in 2014 but was sacked by president Florentino Perez a year later after failing retain the trophy following a semi-final defeat while also finishing runners-up in La Liga.
