Sources: Everton set sights on signing Leandro Trossard

Everton have set their sights on signing Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard this month, sources have told Football Insider.

Toffees manager Frank Lampard views the 27-year-old as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon at Goodison Park.

Everton have rejected bids of £40million and £45million from Chelsea for Gordon this month.

It is understood that the London club are preparing a third offer of £50million for the England under-21 international.

Such a bid would test Everton’s resolve to hang onto their talismanic winger.

Frank Lampard is preparing for Gordon’s possible departure and is considering a number of versatile attackers, of which Trossard is one.

Trossard was thought to have entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Amex Stadium.

However, Brighton boss Graham Potter refuted such claims when quizzed on the player’s future on Sunday (22 August).

Regardless, the Seagulls may find it hard to reject a sizeable late-window bid for Trossard.

The Belgium international started for Graham Potter’s side at West Ham on Sunday.

He scored in a 2-0 win for the Seagulls at the London Stadium.

In 103 Premier League appearances, Trossard has contributed 19 goals and 11 assists.

Everton have scored two goals in their opening three fixtures of the season.

The Toffees were rocked by an injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in pre-season.

The Blues have already lost Richarlison to Tottenham this summer in what was a £60million deal.
