Sources: Fleetwood Town in advanced talks to sign ex-Burnley starlet Macadam

Fleetwood Town are in advanced talks to sign non-league midfielder Harvey Macadam, Football Insider has learned.

The former Burnley trainee is currently playing in the Northern Premier League for Ashton United and has caught the eye of multiple Football League sides.

A Fleetwood source has told Football Insider that the club are working on a deal to agree terms with Macadam, 20, with a view to completing a January deal.

Macadam plies his trade in central midfield for the seventh-tier side.

The Burnley-born youngster played for AFC Fylde, Nelson, and Longridge before settling at Manchester-based Ashton United.

The 20-year-old has made 15 appearances so far this term.

Fleetwood Town are looking to bolster their ranks having won just three times in League One this season.

The Cod Army find themselves in the drop zone under the stewardship of veteran manager Simon Grayson.

The Lancashire club are currently one point from safety having played two games fewer than Shrewsbury, who occupy 20th place.

They were also dumped out of the League Cup at the first opportunity back in August.

Championship side Stoke City beat Grayson’s men 2-1 to end their hopes of a cup run.

Macadam is set to join a youthful midfield at the seaside club.

The Cod Army’s ranks currently boast Jordan Rossiter, Daniel Batty, Callum Camps, Jay Matete, and Harrison Biggins.
