Sources: Front-runner emerges in race to sign Joshua Zirkzee after Man United update
Joshua Zirkzee is being pursued by Roma as Man United contemplate what to do with the forward in January.
Zirkzee had previously been “frustrated” with his lack of minutes at Man United, yet injuries have offered a route to redemption.
The 24-year-old has started up front for the Red Devils in their last three matches in the Premier League, suggesting Ruben Amorim has changed his mind on the number 11.
Moreover, with both Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo heading off to AFCON, Zirkzee may be tempted to stay at Man United and continue to hold down a starting spot.

Roma lead the charge for Zirkzee as Italy return beckons
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Dutchman may be tempted to head back to Italy and rediscover his excellent form that made the Red Devils acquire him back in July 2024.
Although it appears that Zirkzee could only leave Man United if a replacement was signed, a lucrative offer may turn Amorim’s head.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over Roma’s heightened interest in The Netherlands international, I explained: “He’s going to be needed for United over these next few weeks for sure.

“As long as he’s getting game time I’m sure Zirkzee will be happy that he’s got a role to play at Old Trafford but, it won’t stop interest in him because he is still highly thought of in Italy.
“He had great success in Serie A with Bologna…Roma are one of the teams leading the race to bring Zirkzee back to Italy.
“So, let’s see what happens over the next couple of weeks.”
Man United eyeing up bold move for Christos Mouzakitis amid Real Madrid interest
January is set to be a busy transfer window for the Red Devils as they look to set themselves up nicely for a successful second half of the season.
Sources told Football Insider that Man United are set to push Real Madrid to the signing of Christos Mouzakitis.
The 18-year-old has been thriving with Olympiacos and even won the latest Golden Boy award, highlighting his huge promise.
Los Blancos are said to be huge admirers of the Greek, yet United will be keen to beat them to one of Europe’s most exciting youth prodigies.
