Sources: Hibernian’s stance on Kieron Bowie sale after Celtic and Rangers make moves

Hibernian are “expecting offers” for striker Kieron Bowie in the coming weeks amid interest from Celtic and Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.

David Gray’s side are very reluctant to lose the 23-year-old in the mid-season window, but they are also fielding interest from clubs in the English Championship as they face a battle to keep hold of their star man.

Football Insider recently revealed that both Celtic and Rangers have registered their interest in Bowie, which has prompted Hibs to place a lofty £6.5million price tag on his head.

That valuation is intended to ward off the interest in the frontman and is seen as a significant outlay by both Celtic and Rangers, which could potentially price them out of a move.

Bowie is Hibs’ top scorer with eight Premiership goals to his name so far this term, and is crucial to their European aspirations.

Kieron Bowie’s finishing stats show reason behind transfer interest

Wolves have also shown an interest in Bowie of late, and the Premier League side even had scouts present to watch him score in his team’s recent Edinburgh derby victory.

Bowie has been one of the Premiership’s most clinical strikers so far this term, and he has been crucial to Hibs’ efforts, starting 18 of their opening 22 league games.

The youngster is the top scorer in Gray’s squad, while only four players can better his tally across the entire division.

Bowie is the top-flight’s second-highest scoring Scot at the moment, and his finishing stats so far this season perfectly outline why he is subject to such strong interest at the moment.

The frontman’s eight league strikes have come from a total xG of just 5.80, highlighting that he is more than making the most of the chances that have fallen to him.

Bowie has also turned that xG into and xG on target figure of 7.05, meaning that his finishing has drastically improved the quality of the chances that have been created for him.

Both Celtic and Rangers are desperate for attacking additions, with Martin O’Neill and Danny Rohl both keen to see new faces come through the door at their respective clubs.

Rangers’ latest signing potentially just hours away

Andreas Skov Olsen is set to undergo a medical at Rangers on Wednesday, ahead of completing a loan move until the end of the season in potentially just a matter of hours.

The Wolfsburg man is due to fly into Glasgow imminently to undergo fitness checks and sign his contract, which includes the option for the Gers to buy him at the end of the season.

Skov Olsen has one goal from eight appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season, and the winger has been identified by Rohl and Co. as a player who can boost their attacking output.

Rangers have been desperate to add more firepower to their squad this winter, and with a deal for Skov Olsen seemingly within their grasp, they could turn their attention towards Bowie in the aftermath of his arrival.
