Sources: Huddersfield Town make move to sign Aston Villa product Harvey Knibbs

Huddersfield Town are plotting a move for Cambridge United striker Harvey Knibbs, sources have told Football Insider.

The Terriers have held a long-term interest in Knibbs and tried to sign the former Aston Villa academy product in the last window.

Knibbs, 23, is out of contract at Cambridge in the summer and the League One strugglers could be forced to cash in on him.

Huddersfield Town have registered their interest in a late-window deal for the versatile attacker.

Knibbs is currently enjoying his fourth season at Cambridge after joining the side back in 2019.

Knibbs played a vital role in Cambridge’s promotion season in 2020/21, when they finished second in League Two under Mark Bonner.

He made 23 League Two appearances that season, scoring twice and assisting once from midfield.

Since reaching the third tier, Knibbs has continued to impress and become a more regular part of the starting lineup.

He has featured in every League Two fixture for Cambridge this season, scoring four goals throughout those 26 appearances and assisting a further three.

Prior to his time at Cambridge, Knibbs made his name at Aston Villa’s youth academy.

His career started at Nottingham Forest’s youth setup, but Villa sealed his signature in 2015.

Knibbs spent four years in the academy trying to find a route to the first team but instead signed a two-year deal with Cambridge in 2019 without having made his senior debut for Villa.
