Sources: Hull City open talks to sign Harrison Ashby from West Ham

Hull City are in talks to sign West Ham defender Harrison Ashby, Football Insider understands.

The Championship club are trying to complete a deal for the 20-year-old ahead of the Monday night cut-off.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Hull are negotiating a loan deal with West Ham for Ashby.

The attacking full-back made his Premier League debut last month as a late substitute in a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.

He has two other first-team appearances to his name this season, including starts against Tottenham and Dinamo Zagreb in the cups.

Ashby started his career at Chelsea before moving to West Ham and making his mark under David Moyes.

The full-back has excelled in West Ham’s Under-23s and has contributed three goals and eight assists in 30 appearances.

Moyes and his staff could be open to the young defender leaving to experience his first loan spell.

A move to the Championship will be weighed up with a view to what is best for Ashby’s development.

Ashby is currently a Scotland Under-21 international and he has scored once in three appearances for the youth side.

Hull City are looking to add to their squad before the deadline as they look to strengthen their survival bid.

The Tigers have won their last three consecutive games – one of which was a 1-0 victory at high-flying Bournemouth.

However, the Yorkshire club are still just 19th in the Championship table.

They are 12 points ahead of the bottom three.

In other news, it can be revealed West Ham have made contact with Liverpool over a last-gasp deal.
