Sources: Jack Clarke agrees four-year Sunderland deal as he heads to Portugal

Jack Clarke is signing a four-year Sunderland contract after agreeing personal terms, sources have told Football Insider.

This site broke the news on Friday afternoon (8 July) that the Championship giants had reached an agreement with Tottenham over the permanent signing of the winger and that he had started his medical.

The 21-year-old has also settled a contract with Sunderland which will run until the end of June 2026.

The Black Cats are putting the finishing touches to what is a marquee transfer of a player who cost Spurs an initial £9.5million in 2019.

The Leeds United academy product has completed the first part of his Sunderland medical and will do the other part at the club’s pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Clarke moved to the Stadium of Light on loan for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.

He impressed under Alex Neil and was a key factor in the club gaining promotion via the League One play-offs.

The winger produced a pivotal assist for Patrick Roberts in the League One play-off semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday.

Across all competitions during the temporary spell, Clarke contributed one goal and four assists in 20 appearances.

Clarke failed to establish himself as part of the first team at Tottenham following his big-money move from Leeds United.

Clarke is set to become Sunderland’s third signing of the summer window following the arrivals of Leon Dajaku and Daniel Ballard on permanent deals.
