Sources: Jordan Pickford has agreed £23m Everton deal as summer clause news emerges

Jordan Pickford’s new contract at Everton does not include a release clause, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper has signed a new four-and-a-half year deal with the Toffees, extending his stay at Goodison Park to the summer of 2027.

Despite Everton sitting just one point above the bottom three in the Premier League, Pickford’s contract does not include a clause that would allow the England international to leave in the event of relegation or for a set price.

The new deal will see Pickford’s wages rise to around £100,000-a-week, placing him alongside the club’s highest earners.

In total, the contract is worth around £23million plus bonuses.

Pickford is currently spending his sixth season at Goodison Park after joining the Toffees from Sunderland for £25million back in 2017.

It was a record transfer for Everton at the time, who had been impressed with Pickford following his breakthrough with boyhood club Sunderland.

Pickford rose through the ranks of the youth academy at the Stadium of Light and then experienced six separate loans as he looked to gather experience.

His breakthrough in the first team finally came in the 2016/17 season when he replaced the injured Vito Mannone and ended up being shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award for his efforts.

After a total of 35 senior appearances for Sunderland, Pickford completed his switch to Merseyside and has made 222 appearances for Everton across all competitions.

He has kept 59 clean sheets for the Toffees during that time and was named the club’s 2021/22 Player of the Season.

In other news, Everton expect to now complete £5m signing with agreement in place.
