Sources: Leeds ‘scout’ Josh Mulligan after release clause reveal
Leeds United are interested in Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan with a move later this year on the cards.
The 23-year-old has been one of the standout midfielders in the Scottish Premiership this season, after he joined Hibernian last summer following the expiration of his contract with Dundee.
He has registered three goals and five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions for the Edinburgh-based club so far this term.
Leeds were first linked to Mulligan last month, alongside Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, with his contract believed to contain an affordable release clause.
The Whites are keeping tabs on his progress north of the border, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, they are not planning an approach to sign him this month.

Leeds decide against signing Mulligan in January
Leeds‘ form has picked up in recent weeks after a tough start to life back in the top flight, with just one loss in their last eight league games to move eight points clear of the bottom three.
Sean Longstaff moved to Elland Road in the summer, while the likes of Anton Stach, Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu have all been key players under Daniel Farke this season.
That impressive midfield depth, as well as their better recent form, means Leeds are not interested in a deal to sign Mulligan in the January window.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think that he’s (Mulligan) obviously a player that Leeds are following and keeping tabs on, as he has had a very good season for Hibernian up in Scotland.
“But I don’t think it’s (a midfielder) a priority for Leeds right now. They’ve been in very good form right up until that heartbreaking defeat to Newcastle.
“They’ve really picked up form and really moved further clear of relegation trouble. I don’t think Leeds really need to rush into anything.
“I think he’s a player that Leeds will continue to track and scout, but I don’t envisage them making a move for him in January, but maybe in the summer, if he continues to impress for Hibs, it’s something they will revisit.“
Leeds want to sign Chelsea outcast Axel Disasi
One position that Farke is keen to bolster his options in is centre-back, with only four other teams having conceded more than Leeds in the Premier League this season.
Football Insider revealed last month that Leeds are interested in Chelsea’s Axel Disasi as he continues to ply his trade for their under-21 side, rather than in their first-team.

Disasi last featured for the Blues’ senior side in April 2025 as he was set for a move away in the summer, but his professionalism and dedication have reportedly impressed those at Stamford Bridge despite his struggles.
Sources told Football Insider last week that Leeds are advancing in a move for Disasi, likely on loan, and so he could be the next man through the door at Elland Road as they continue to battle for survival.
