Sources: Leeds set to reach verbal agreement with Rodrigo – he’ll be sold if relegated
Leeds United are set to verbally agree with Rodrigo that he will be sold if the club is relegated this season, sources have told Football Insider.
The 32-year-old striker does not want to play in the Championship and has already informed the club that he wants to leave if relegated.
Rodrigo is the top earner at Elland Road and the board understand it would be difficult to keep hold of him financially.
As a result, Leeds are expected to make a verbal agreement with Rodrigo that he can move on for the sake of all parties involved.
The Whites signed Rodrigo after securing promotion to the Premier League in 2020 for a club-record £26million fee.
The Spanish forward signed a four-year deal with the club and would therefore become a free agent next summer if not sold or offered a new deal.
In his three years at the club, Rodrigo has scored 26 goals and assisted five times in 89 total appearances.
Despite being signed by Marcelo Bielsa in 2020, Rodrigo actually enjoyed his most productive spell at Leeds under Jesse Marsch.
Rodrigo scored 10 times in 50 appearances under Bielsa but scored 15 times in 34 appearances under Marsch. He has so far scored once in five matches since Javi Graci took charge.

Gracia has used Rodrigo sparingly, with the Spanish coach preferring Patrick Bamford as a sole striker.
Rodrigo is yet to be handed a Premier League start by Gracia, with his five appearances under the new manager all coming in substitute cameos.
