Sources: Leeds United and Ipswich Town set sights on late moves for Newcastle United ace Paul Dummett
Leeds United and Ipswich Town are keen on signing Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett before the close of the window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship promotion rivals are keen on strengthening their respective defences and the versatile 32-year-old Magpies ace fits the bill.
Dummett came through the ranks at Newcastle and has been part of the squad since making his debut 11 years ago.
But the Wales international has featured sparingly for the St James’ Park club since their mega-money Saudi-backed takeover in 2021.
He has managed just four appearances totalling 184 minutes of action so far in the 2023-24 campaign.
Dummett, who has racked up 209 total appearances during his time at Newcastle, is out of contract at the end of this season.
The 32-year-old is primarily a left-back but can also fill in at the heart of the defence.
Leeds have chased defensive reinforcements throughout this mid-season window and have seen moves for several top targets fall through.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (1 February) that Ben Godfrey will be staying at Everton past the transfer deadline despite interest and offers from Daniel Farke’s side.

The Whites sit fourth in the Championship – just two points and two places behind promotion rivals Ipswich.
Leeds are yet to seal a January signing, while the Tractor Boys have wrapped up three winter arrivals.
