Sources: Leeds United close two 6-figure signings, one medical already passed

Leeds United will add the signing of Aberdeen’s Lewis Pirie to that Hamilton’s Josh McDonald in the coming hours, sources have told Football Insider.

Dons striker sensation Pirie, 16, will undergo a medical with the Yorkshire giants on Wednesday after they agreed a £200,000 deal with the Scottish Premiership club.

Hamilton midfielder McDonald, also 16, is also completing a move to Elland Road.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 8th May that Hamilton had just visited Leeds’ Elland Road headquarters to put the finishing touches to a £150,000 transfer.

He underwent a medical and completed the formalities of the deal at that point in a move seen as a major coup by United.

The double raid on Scotland is part of a drive to secure top British talent by Leeds in the wake of the new Brexit regulations limiting the capture of top young talent from Europe.

Barry Robson’s side were desperate to keep a hold of Pirie and reportedly offered him a professional contract with the club.

But the striker, who scored 51 goals for club and country at a youth level last season, appears to have his heart set on a move south.

The pair join a long list of Scottish talent making the move to England following in the footsteps of Billy Gilmour, Ben Doak and Calvin Ramsay.
