Leeds sources: Davis move to Bournemouth collapses after extensive talks

Leif Davis’ potential move from Leeds United to Bournemouth has collapsed, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site broke the news on 15th July that the left-back, 21, was in advanced talks to join the Championship outfit on loan.

But a Leeds source has told Football Insider that the plug has now been pulled on Davis joining Bournemouth for the upcoming season.

It remains to be seen if talks can be reignited ahead of the Cherries’ Championship campaign starting against West Brom on 6 August.

But those involved in discussions do not expect them to be.

Marcelo Bielsa had been keen for Davis to get regular senior playing experience rather than be a bit-part figure at Leeds.

That had opened the door to Scott Parker’s side signing the left-sided defender they had identified as a top target.

But the highly rated youngster will be welcomed back into the fold at Leeds as they prepare for the new Premier League campaign.

Davis, who is primarily a left-back but can also move across to centre-back, will provide cover for £13million new signing Junior Firpo.

The arrival from Barcelona is set to be the first choice, with the versatile Stuart Dallas also able to slot in at left-back, as he has on a number of occasions in recent seasons..

Davis has graduated from the Leeds youth ranks to make 14 senior appearances in total.

Four of those came last season, including two substitute appearances in the Premier League.

In other news, Man City agree to sign Leeds United player in surprise swoop.
