Sources: Leeds United set to open Jack Harrison talks after bid tabled

Leeds United are set to open new contract talks with Jack Harrison, sources have told Football Insider.

The wide forward’s long-term future at Elland Road is up in the air with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2024.

Newcastle United were keen to sign Harrison, 25, during the summer and reportedly had £20million-plus bid rejected by Leeds.

The Whites do not want to lose Harrison but are aware they will struggle to keep him if he enters the final 12 months of his contract at the end of the season.

The Premier League club are ready to offer Harrison a new and improved contract reflecting his status as a key member of their team.

The former Man City star has started all six of their Premier league matches this term, scoring once and supplying three assists.

As per Fotmob, the 25-year-old ranks third for chances created in the Premier League – behind Mohamed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne, and ahead of Ilkay Gundogan.

Harrison was tipped for inclusion in this month’s England squad after his early-season form but Gareth Southgate declined to give him his maiden call-up.
