Sources: Leicester City new Graham Potter plan revealed – set to appoint caretaker now

Leicester City are expected to appoint a caretaker manager until the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Foxes sacked Brendan Rodgers this week after the club slumped to 19th in the table with just nine games remaining in the Premier League season.

Graham Potter was identified by the Leicester board as the first-choice candidate to replace Rodgers, but the 47-year-old has informed them that he does not intend to join a new club until the summer.

Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (7 April) that Leicester have discussed hiring Sam Allardyce as manager until the end of the current campaign.

Potter was sacked by Chelsea on Sunday (2 April) after a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa left the Blues in the bottom half of the table.

Potter never truly settled at Stamford Bridge and struggled with a squad that saw plenty of new signings arrive both in the summer and winter transfer windows.

But his success at Brighton is still noteworthy, with Potter establishing the Seagulls as a Premier League regular in his three years at the club.

It is understood that Leicester are still keen to try and lure Potter to the King Power Stadium in the summer, provided they avoid relegation to the Championship this season.

Should the Foxes survive under a caretaker boss, they will try again to offer Potter a return to management ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Potter left Chelsea with a 38.7 win rate, with the English coach winning 12 of his 31 matches across all competitions.
