Sources: Leicester City view Sean Dyche appointment as ‘huge coup’, Premier League plan clear
Leicester City would view the potential appointment of Sean Dyche as their new manager as a “huge coup”, sources have told Football Insider.
The 54-year-old has emerged as a strong candidate to step into the vacant role at the King Power Stadium, with his relegation-fighting expertise seen as a valuable commodity by the Foxes board after their points deduction.
The club hierarchy have outlined Dyche as a boss who could come in and make an immediate impact to drag them away from the bottom three, but sources say that he would prefer another Premier League role for his next job.
Leicester are currently one point adrift of safety in the Championship, and are viewing the former Nottingham Forest and Everton boss as an ideal target, if they can convince him to join.

Leicester ready to offer Sean Dyche second chance in 2025-26
Dyche was sacked by Nottingham Forest last week after they were held to a 0-0 draw by the Premier League’s bottom club Wolves on home turf.
The former Everton and Burnley boss was shown the door by controversial owner Evangelos Marinakis, with the team now outside the relegation zone by just three points after West Ham’s recent resurgence.
Dyche’s tenure at the City Ground ended with the highest win percentage of any manager since Marinakis bought the club in 2017, and several pundits have criticised the Reds for not allowing Dyche to see through his survival remit.
However, Leicester now appear increasingly keen to potentially offer him that opportunity, as they face a fight on their hands to stay in the Championship.
The Foxes have recently seen a six-point deduction catapult them into the middle of the relegation dogfight, and that is a situation in which there are typically few better options than Dyche.
His time with one East Midlands outfit may have been cut short, but that could work in the favour of another.
Gareth Southgate shows his cards amid Foxes links
Football Insider revealed last week that Gareth Southgate has no intention of returning to club management in the coming weeks, despite recent links with the vacant Leicester job.
The former England boss has been linked with the position by the bookmakers, but it already appears to be an appointment that is out of reach for the Foxes.
Southgate has been out of work since he left his role as England chief after Euro 2024, and he has little intention of stepping back into the game in the immediate future.
The likes of Ralph Hasenhuttl, Gary Rowett and Russell Martin have also been linked with a move to the King Power, as owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha continues to weigh up his options.
