Sources: Linfield scout Rangers forward Josh McPake as transfer edges closer
Linfield sent scouts to watch Rangers loanee Josh McPake in action for Queens Park last weekend, sources have told Football Insider.
The winger, 21, is currently on loan at Championship side Queens Park after finding himself down the pecking order at Ibrox.
The Glasgow giants are willing to sell McPake on a permanent deal after multiple loans in recent years.
He will enter the final year of his contract in the summer.
Irish club Linfield watched McPake in action in Friday’s game with Raith Rovers as they weigh up a move for the attacker, but he only played the last 29 minutes after being dropped from the starting XI for the first time in a number of weeks.
The midfielder is currently on his sixth loan spell where he has played for various clubs including Dundee, Harrogate Town, Morton, Tranmere Rovers and most recently Queens Park.
McPake has made 27 appearances for the Championship leaders so far this season and has scored four goals and provided three assists in those outings.

On 7 February, this site revealed that the Gers were hoping to offload McPake in the January window but no clubs had a concrete interest in signing him.
The midfielder has endured a tough time at Ibrox due to discipline issues off the pitch but is among one of the highest earners of the fringe players and Gers bosses are keen to get him off the books.
In other news, according to sources, Rangers star Allan McGregor almost certain to leave as replacement lined up.
