Sources: Liverpool accelerate plan to replace Ibrahima Konate in January
Liverpool will accelerate plans to replace Ibrahima Konate in the summer transfer window if he doesn’t sign a new deal soon, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he is able to agree terms with European sides from 1 January, to then join them next summer.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked to Konate throughout the saga and could secure him on a free transfer.
Sources say talks are still ongoing between Liverpool and the centre-back, but the longer the situation drags on, the more likely he is to leave.

Ibrahima Konate drops hint about his future
Football Insider revealed on 4 October that Liverpool are extremely reluctant to lose Konate and will do all they can to keep him.
That is despite the defender’s poor form so far this season, which has contributed to Arne Slot’s side’s disappointing start in the Premier League.
Now, Liverpool fans are angry with Konate after he spoke out on the situation over the international break, saying that Reds supporters don’t know the full story.
The French international also hinted that the saga is close to having a resolution, but his future at Anfield is still in massive doubt.
Liverpool will make new push for major defender target
With Konate’s future in doubt, Liverpool will make a strong new push for Marc Guehi in the January window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Crystal Palace defender, 25, came within a whisker of completing a move to Anfield after agreeing terms with the club.
Sources say Liverpool recognise they messed up over the deal and the club will go “all out” to get Guehi in the mid-season window.
However, their pursuit is now complicated by strong interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, who are both working on deals to land Guehi next year.
