Sources: Liverpool in ‘very big’ race with Arsenal to sign Jeremy Jacquet
Liverpool have been joined by Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to sign highly-rated Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet.
Jacquet has been a regular starter at the back for Rennes this season after extending his contract with the club in the summer to 2029.
He has made 15 appearances for the sixth-placed Ligue 1 side so far in 2025-26, and his performances have caught the eye of a number of top clubs ahead of a potential move soon.
Liverpool have registered an interest in Jacquet ahead of January, with Arne Slot aiming to bolster his options at centre-back.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Reds are not the only Premier League club keeping tabs on the 20-year-old’s progress.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal among top clubs eyeing Jacquet
Arsenal lead the way in the Premier League right now, with Liverpool in fourth place, while new Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has inherited a team sat in eighth as it stands.
All three clubs could look to add to their respective defensive depth in the January window, with Jacquet a known target for each, as well as Man City and Real Madrid.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Jacquet is a player who’s on the radar of a number of top clubs across Europe, earning a very big reputation at Rennes and in Ligue 1.
“He’s established himself as one of the best young defenders in France right now as well, but there’s going to be intense competition for his signature.
“You’ve got the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Real Madrid, all looking at Jacquet as well, so yeah, it’s not going to be a straightforward one for Liverpool.“
Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City are also after Marc Guehi
The January window is now in full swing, but Crystal Palace star Guehi still faces an uncertain future amid continued high-profile interest in his services.
Guehi was close to joining Liverpool in the summer, but his move to Merseyside collapsed on deadline day, and he is now just a few months away from the end of his contract at Selhurst Park.

Football Insider have revealed that Man City plan to submit an offer for Guehi soon worth around £20million, while Liverpool would prefer to sign him in the summer and Arsenal retain an interest.
It remains to be seen where the England centre-back does end up by the start of February, but his potential move could well have a direct impact on the next team that Jacquet decides to join.
