Sources: Liverpool make approach for Benfica sensation Kyanno Lorenzo

Liverpool have made an approach for Benfica sensation Kyanno Lorenzo Silva, sources have told Football Insider.

But the Merseyside giants face competition from Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta, who have also been in contact with enquiries about the 18-year-old forward.

Lorenzo has hugely impressed scouts at Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta this season after starring for Benfica’s Under-23 side and also with the Netherlands’ Under-19s.

The teenager is a left-footed forward who plays predominantly on the right flank, similar to Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.

Lorenzo has just six months left on his contract at Benfica and could be available for minimal compensation if he sees out his contract.

He has made nine appearances in the UEFA Youth League and Portugal’s Under-23 division this season, notching two goals.

The Schiedam-born ace came through the ranks at Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam before leaving for Benfica in 2021.

The youngster signed a three-year professional deal which is now entering its final months.

Lorenzo would become one of several Under-21 talents at Anfield, with Ben Doak, Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah already breaking through with the first-team.

Kaide Gordon and Bobby Clark, both 18, are also impressing for the club’s Under-21 side after coming through the Merseysiders’ academy.

At first-team level, Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table ahead of their next game with Sheffield United on Wednesday (6 December).
