Sources: Liverpool make ‘immediate’ Arne Slot sack plan after new twist
Arne Slot is facing growing questions about his future at Liverpool after the latest twist in what has been a hugely underwhelming season.
The midweek defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League has ramped up the pressure on Slot’s position, as the Reds risk an early exit from the competition.
However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, their European progress is unlikely to have an immediate impact on his future.
Slot still has credit in the bank from last season’s Premier League title win, and remains in with a chance of lifting further silverware in the FA Cup.
Despite planning to stick with the boss, though, Liverpool could be looking for a new manager if they miss out on Champions League qualification.

Football Insider revealed on 7 March that Liverpool will not sack Slot unless they miss out on Champions League football, with a fifth-place league finish their priority.
Their current progress through the competition will not make a substantial difference to their decision, although they will be disappointed if they face an early exit.
Liverpool will face Galatasaray again in the second leg at Anfield, and Slot knows a win would ease much of the pressure than has piled on him recently.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It’ll definitely ramp up the pressure on him.
“Whether it’ll have a direct influence on a decision to be made on his future before the end of the season, I don’t think so.
“Obviously it was a very disappointing performance in the midweek defeat to Galatasaray.
“They were probably a bit lucky that it was only 1-0 in the end in the first leg, but they will be hopeful that they can turn it around and progress into the quarter-finals.
“Because of the success of last season, he’s got a bit of credit in the bank, and obviously the goal is now to try and end the season with some silverware.
“They’re in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, they hope to make progress in the Champions League, and then it’s all about finishing in the top five in the Premier League.
“So yeah, it’s a difficult time for Slot, but I don’t think any result next week against Galatasaray will have an immediate impact on his future.”
Liverpool’s star players could follow Slot out of Anfield
Given the ongoing pressure on the manager’s position at Liverpool, doubts have been cast over the futures of a number of their star players.
While Slot is expected to remain in charge at least until the end of the season, failure to qualify for the Champions League will likely see him sacked.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 8 March that Liverpool could lose multiple key players if they fail to reach Europe’s premier competition next time out.

Liverpool sit sixth in the Premier League as things stand, but just three points separate them from fourth-placed Aston Villa with plenty still to play for.
However, with frustrations building at Anfield, there is a feeling the likes of Mohamed Salah could be tempted to quit if their struggles continue.
