Sources: Liverpool, Man United told Vinicius Jr price tag as Real Madrid exit edges closer

Vinicius Junior would likely cost around £80million next summer if he completes a Real Madrid exit, sources have told Football Insider.

The likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in Vinicius Jr, whose contract at the Spanish club expires in June 2027.

However, the Brazilian winger is now being linked with an earlier departure from Real Madrid after reportedly falling out with manager Xabi Alonso.

Sources say that despite only having a year left on his contract at the end of this season, Vinicius Jr would still command a fee of at least £80m.

Vinicius Jr’s contract negotiations with Real Madrid stall

Real Madrid have offered Vinicius Jr a contract extension, but negotiations over a new deal have stalled, leading to uncertainty over the winger’s future at the club.

While wage demands are a sticking point for both parties, the Brazilian’s strained relationship with Alonso is also a big stumbling block.

With less than two years left on his current deal, Real Madrid may choose to offload Vinicius Jr in the summer window rather than risk losing him on a free transfer.

If he did become available at the end of the season, then Liverpool would be interested in making a statement signing.

Arne Slot’s side have struggled out wide this term following Luis Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich, and would jump at the chance to sign one of the world’s best.

Liverpool make decision on Arne Slot’s future

Meanwhile, Slot still has the backing of the Liverpool ownership despite recent results, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have now lost six of their last seven Premier League games, and are already 11 points adrift of table-topping Arsenal.

Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday (22 November) leaves them 12th in the table and has increased the pressure on Slot.

However, sources say that there are no immediate signs that the Dutchman will be sacked as he still has credit in the bank with the club’s US owners.
