Leicester City are keeping tabs on Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita ahead of the summer, Football Insider understands.

The midfielder, 26, has become a bit-part player at Anfield since becoming the club's third most expensive signing in history in 2018.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Leicester would be interested in Keita if he becomes available in the next window.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of the Guinea international's energy and quality on the ball.

At Liverpool, Keita has slipped behind Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner and youngster Curtis Jones in the central midfield pecking order

Keita was an unused substitute for last Saturday's 3-0 win against Arsenal even though Henderson was injured and Wijnaldum benched.

He has been ravaged by injury and availability issues since his £52.5m move from RB Leipzig in 2018.

Liverpool now value him at up to £30m amid the growing expectation that he will not now be the dominant midfielder they hoped when waiting a year for him to arrive.

He has showed glimpses of star quality during his three seasons but never the required level of consistency.

The midfielder has been unable to match his regular goal contributions at former clubs Leipzig and RB Salzburg.

At Liverpool, Keita has scored just seven times in 75 appearances and has not scored or assisted in 15 games this season.
