Sources: Liverpool to block Alisson joining new club after complication

Juventus will not be able to afford a deal to sign Liverpool legend Alisson if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Liverpool have no plans to lose the Brazil international this summer, after recent reports emerged around Juventus‘ interest in his services.

The Italian giants are keen admirers of his talents but face an uphill battle to stump up the finances required, regardless of Liverpool’s view, as they sit fifth in Serie A.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, missing out on a Champions League spot would mean Juve cannot afford to sign Alisson.

The Reds do not want to sell him ahead of next season anyway, and he is believed to remain content with his current standing in Arne Slot’s squad.

Liverpool want Alisson to stay amid Juventus rumours

Alisson has played over 320 times for Liverpool since joining from Roma in 2018, helping them win every trophy on offer over the last eight years.

The 33-year-old has had to contend with injury struggles over the last few seasons, but has made 29 appearances so far in 2025-26, keeping 12 clean sheets in the process.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, obviously no surprise that someone like Juventus are looking at Alisson. He had a very good time in Italy with Roma before moving to Liverpool.

“I don’t see a departure on the cards this summer. I think Liverpool will be planning to keep Alisson.

“Alisson’s happy at Anfield, and as for Juventus, they’re in a battle to try and finish in a Champions League place as well.

“If they don’t qualify for the Champions League, I would imagine they would find it pretty hard to afford a deal for Alisson. His fee and wages would be quite hard for the Bianconeri to afford.”

Juventus targeting swoop for Tottenham keeper Guglielmo Vicario

Juventus have been touted to move for Alisson, but Liverpool’s likely reluctance to allow him to leave has seen them seemingly switch their focus to Tottenham stopper Vicario.

The Italy international moved to Spurs from Empoli in 2023, and he has since nailed down his place as their number one keeper, with 111 appearances across competitions so far.

Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported this week that Juve have made fresh contact with Tottenham over the last few days, with a view to making a move for the 29-year-old ahead of next season.

Such a move coming to fruition would surely curtail the Turin-based side’s interest in Alisson, meaning Liverpool fans would be able to relax and enjoy him for at least one more season.
