Sources: Luke Shaw agrees Man United deal
Luke Shaw is set to pledge his future to Man United by signing a new long-term deal at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old’s contract, which reportedly nets him £150,000-a-week, was set to expire in June 2024.
Football Insider revealed last month (21 February) that Shaw was close to penning renewed terms at Old Trafford after proving his worth to Erik ten Hag in the 2022-23 campaign.
Sources with knowledge of the situation have revealed that a conclusion is close with Man United putting the finishing touches on a new deal for the England international.
Terms have been agreed and should be signed off soon.
The former Southampton star has turned in many stellar performances in recent months – and has even been deployed as a centre-back in Ten Hag’s system.
That is despite an early-season blip which saw him frozen out of the starting lineup for five straight league games – putting other Premier League sides on high alert.
Football Insider revealed in October 2022 that Newcastle were keeping tabs on his situation ahead of a potential swoop this year, and it was widely reported that he could leave.
Man United activated the one-year extension clause in Shaw’s contract in late 2022 as his deal was set to expire in June 2023.
The 27-year-old has regained his best form since then and has turned out 35 times across all competitions this season – scoring once and providing six assists.
Man United still have several contract situations left to resolve – with potential big new deals for Marcus Rashford and David de Gea currently in the headlines.

De Gea is out of contract this summer, and it has been widely reported that he will have to take a pay cut on his reported £375,000-a-week deal to remain at Old Trafford.
Rashford is out of contract in June 2024 and agreeing a new deal has become more urgent for the Red Devils following his 27-goal return this season.
