Everton midfielder Beni Baningime is set to remain at the club after talks over a move to Danish side Brondby collapsed, Football Insider understands.

The DR Congo rising star, 20, travelled to Denmark last week for negotiations to join the Scandinavian outfit before the European windows shut at the end of this month.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that a deal is now off the table and Baningime is set to stay at Goodison until at least January.

This is a blow to Baningime, who had been eager to test himself at senior level in a competitive league and was keen on joining Brondby.

The youngster, who is predominantly a defensive midfielder, is way down the pecking order in Marco Silva's squad following the signings of Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph.

However, Gbamin is out with a thigh injury that is set to sideline him for around two months and this has altered the midfield picture at Goodison.

Gomes has been partnered by Morgan Schneiderlin Gbamin in central midfield for the opening three Premier League matches of the season, which have yielded a draw, a win and last Friday's defeat to Aston Villa.

Baningime has played 12 times for the Everton first team since graduating from the club's youth ranks.
