Sources: Major update on Chelsea signing new goalkeeper after Sanchez update
Chelsea could have to sell stars before moving for a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Blues may not be able to splash out on a new shot-stopper due to Financial Fair Play restrictions following their mammoth spending in recent seasons.
Football Insider revealed as early as 11 November that Chelsea boss Pochettino and his recruitment staff have identified goalkeeper as an area of the squad which needs improving ahead of the mid-season window.

That is despite the recent signing of Robert Sanchez – who left Brighton for the Londoners in the most recent summer window for a reported fee of £25million.
The Spain international is currently out injured and missed the 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday (16 December).
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Sanchez’s injury is not as bad as first feared – meaning he could return in early January.
And if Chelsea are to add senior competition for the 26-year-old to their squad in the new year, they will have to sell first-team stars to make that possible.
Sanchez has made 19 appearances across all competitions for the club this season, conceding 26 goals and keeping just five clean sheets.
Serbia international Djordje Petrovic, 24, was signed in the summer and started on Saturday as Chelsea defeated the Blades at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino’s side are struggling for consistency despite their huge summer spending and sit 10th in the Premier League after 17 games.
The Blues are next in action in the League Cup quarter-final against Newcastle on Tuesday (19 December).
