Sources: Major update on Dale future at Crewe Alexandra after showdown talks
Championship target Owen Dale did not train with Crewe Alexandra on Thursday after talks with manager Dave Artell raised major doubts over his future, Football Insider can reveal.
Dale, who has been the subject of a bid from a mystery Championship club this summer, is understood to be unhappy about how he has been treated by the club in general.
An industry source has told Football Insider Crewe have attempted to price him out a move and blocking him from the opportunity of playing at a higher level than League One.
Dale is thought to have made his feelings clear on the manner in which the club has been treating him.
Crewe are understood to have slapped a £1million price tag on Dale in a bid to fend off interest in the attacker even though the player’s current contract does not reflect how much the club value him at.
This seems a regular practice at Crewe and is at the root of repetitive disputes with players who sign at Crewe to as a stepping stone, only to find their pathway blocked when the next level of team shows interest.

This situation will surely send alarm bells to parents of players in the north west and Midlands who are looking to Crewe Alexandra for football education only to find that they become purely a product for sale.
As a club who regularly have the lowest wage budget in the league, they are not positioning themselves well to achieve promotion.
The incident is sure to fuel speculation over Dale’s future ahead of the transfer window closing at the end of the month.
A number of clubs are understood to be monitoring Dale’s situation at Gresty Road and could make a move for the winger to offer him the chance to test himself higher up the football pyramid.
Dale, who claimed a clean-sweep of the player-of-the-year awards last season, scored 12 goals last term and is regarded as one of the best young talents in the Football League.
