Sources: Major update on Liverpool pursuit of Levi Colwill
Liverpool remain interested in Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders are prioritising deals for central midfielders and a central defender with the start of the 2023-24 campaign on the horizon.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Liverpool “would love” to prise Colwill, 20, away from Chelsea this summer following his successful breakthrough on loan at Brighton last term.
However, it is believed a deal will not be straightforward with the Blues desperate to keep hold of their academy graduate.
Football Insider revealed last month (20 June) that Mauricio Pochettino is set hand Colwill assurances over his first-team involvement in the 2023-24 campaign.
A well-placed source revealed that “all signs are pointing” to him remaining at Stamford Bridge with Kalidou Koulibaly moving to Saudi Arabia.
Colwill made 22 appearances across all competitions for Brighton as they sealed a historic first-ever Europa League qualification – starting 13 Premier League games.
He is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea – where his contract is set to expire in June 2025.
The 20-year-old was an integral part of the England Under-21 side which won the European Championships in Romania and Georgia earlier this month.
Colwill is not the only name on Liverpool’s list of potential centre-back signings.

Football Insider revealed on 12 July that the Merseysiders have set their sights on a new move for Perr Schuurs after previously showing an interest when he was at Ajax.
Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven are also on the club’s shortlist.
