Sources: Major update on Newcastle United bid to sign Tino Livramento
Newcastle have been unable to agree a deal for Tino Livramento as Southampton’s asking price is too steep, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies are interested in the Englishman, and have registered their interest in signing him before the end of the transfer window.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Tuesday (11 July) that the full-back is on Newcastle’s transfer shortlist alongside Wolves’ Hugo Bueno and Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney.
The Magpies’ interest in the defender comes as Livramento returned to first team action at the end of the 2022/23 season after recovering from a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2022.
That injury kept him on the sidelines for 13 months, only returning to first-team action during May’s away defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Livramento signed for Southampton from Chelsea in a £5million deal in August last year.
The Athletic claimed in September 2021 that the Blues have a £38million buy-back option which becomes active in 2023.
The promising youngster has been an ever-present for the Saint when fit as he registered one goal and two assists in 32 appearances during the 2021-22 season.
He was recovering from an ACL injury in the previous campaign, which saw him make two appearances in the Premier League.

New Southampton boss Russell Martin has admitted players will leave the club this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship – even if deals are finalised after the start of the 2023-24 season.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (7 July) that Newcastle are planning to complete their summer business with deals for a full-back, centre-back and wide forward.
