Sources: Major update on West Ham bid to sign Lingard after talks today
West Ham are confident of pulling off the late-window signing of Jesse Lingard, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 28-year-old has been pursued all summer by the Irons after his brilliant loan spell last term.
A West Ham source has told Football Insider discussions have continued behind the scenes with United and Lingard’s camp over a deal ahead of Tuesday’s transfer cut-off.
There is no agreement yet in place and the England international is wanted by multiple Premier League sides.
But West Ham are in pole position and the source explained David Moyes is confident of signing Lingard for a second time following further talks this morning.
A product of Man United’s academy, Lingard was keen to regain his place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season.
Speaking to club media on Friday, Solskjaer claimed the player was a “big part” of his plans.
However, with less than 12 months left on his contract and four minutes of football to his name this season, the attacking midfielder looks increasingly likely to exit Old Trafford.
Lingard excelled at the London Stadium in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign to help David Moyes’ side qualify for the Europa League.

His 16 appearances for the Hammers yielded a remarkable nine goals and five assists.
Such form earned him a call up to England’s preliminary squad for the Euros but he missed out on Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad.
