Sources: Man City change mind on selling Jack Grealish in exchange for ‘superstar’ signing

Man City have changed their mind on potentially listening to offers for Jack Grealish in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The club-record arrival’s future had been under threat at the turn of the year when his name was mentioned internally as one player who could be sold to raise funds.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that selling Grealish was considered with Man City eyeing “superstar” targets like Jude Bellingham in the summer window.

But the former Aston Villa star has turned his career around since the World Cup and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet for Pep Guardiola.

The England international is also a firm favourite with the Etihad Stadium crowd.

It is believed that Grealish is now almost certain to stay at Man City past this summer.

Other stars will need to be sold by the Citizens if they are to complete a blockbuster deal for Bellingham in the off-season.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (22 April) that Aston Villa are considering a £55million double bid for Kalvin Phillips and Kyle Walker as the summer window approaches.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is likely to command a club-record outlay of £130million+.

That is more than the then-British-record £100million paid by City to Aston Villa for Grealish in 2021.

He managed just six goals and four assists in 39 appearances across all competitions in his first season at the Etihad Stadium.

This term, the England international has recorded five goals and nine assists in 41 outings – and has started in the last 12 Premier League games.

Grealish is also a fixture in Guardiola’s Champions League side as the Citizens vie for a first-ever triumph in the competition.
