Sources: Man City player jets in to undergo medical and complete loan-to-buy deal

Man City starlet Jahmai Simpson-Pusey was flying to Germany on Sunday for a medical after agreeing a loan-to-buy move to FC Koln, sources have told Football Insider.

The centre-back, 20, spent the first half of the campaign at Celtic but played only 64 league minutes and the deal was terminated.

Simpson-Pusey has attracted interest from Championship teams as well as Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.

But Bundesliga outfit FC Koln have won the race for his signature, and he is now heading out to complete a loan move that also includes a buy option.

Celtic loan didn’t go to plan for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Man City

Manchester City decided to loan Simpson-Pusey to Celtic in August on the basis that he would receive plenty of opportunities to impress and grow at a club where the level of pressure is similar to that of the Premier League.

Instead, it quickly became something of a nightmare spell for both the player and his parent club, and he routinely failed to make the matchday squad under Brendan Rodgers in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Simpson-Pusey had to wait until 9 November to get his first minutes for the Bhoys, but he was unable to kick on after that and became little more than a squad filler for new boss Wilfried Nancy.

City promptly made the decision to recall him at the start of January, and his new loan deal could ultimately see him depart the club on a permanent basis next summer.

The defender turned out for his boyhood club in both the Premier League and the Champions League last term, but they are now willing to potentially lose him.

Nathan Ake to follow Simpson-Pusey out of the door in January

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider earlier this week that Manchester City will accept offers for Nathan Ake in January.

The Dutchman has been part of four famous title-winning campaigns at the Etihad Stadium, but he now appears destined to follow Simpson-Pusey out of the door this winter.

Brown revealed that Ake is unhappy with the idea of being introduced from the bench in the latter stages of games, but he is no longer seen by Pep Guardiola as a player who is capable of starting.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Ake will need as much football as possible, and it looks as though City are prepared to try and facilitate that for him through a potential move away.
