Sources: Man City plotting to sign Barcelona star Ansu Fati after father’s reveal

Man City are plotting a move to sign Ansu Fati this summer following his father’s comments on his playing time at Barcelona, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-year-old’s father said he is “angry” at his son’s lack of minutes at Camp Nou and would like to see him move to another club in the summer.

“If it was up to me, I would take him [to another team]. As a dad, I am angry. Seeing Ansu play so little winds you up a little bit and sometimes I think as a father, not a coach,” said his father.

It is understood that Fati would prefer to stay at Barcelona, but his father’s comments have put Premier League clubs on red alert in case he becomes available.

Man United, Chelsea and City are now all keeping tabs on his situation at Barcelona and are prepared to make a summer bid.

Barcelona are still struggling financially and will need to offload players in the summer to balance the books, and Fati could be one of a handful of players put up for sale.

Fati joined the La Masia academy aged 10 and worked his way through the Barcelona youth setup before bursting into the first team in 2019.

In his four years with the senior team, Fati has made 96 appearances and scored 25 times for the Catalan club.

However, his game time has decreased considerably this season under Xavi. Despite making 24 league appearances this season, Fati has only played a full 90-minute match once, with most of his appearances coming as a substitute.
