Sources: Man City ready to terminate Josh Wilson-Esbrand deal – talks begin over last-gasp Cardiff City move
Man City are ready to terminate Josh Wilson-Esbrand’s loan deal to allow him to join Cardiff City, sources have told Football Insider.
The Welsh club are in talks with City over a move for the 21-year-old defender with just hours remaining until the transfer deadline.
Wilson-Esbrand is currently on loan at Ligue 1 club Reims, but City are ready to cut his spell short if a deal can be struck with Cardiff today.
The London-born defender joined Reims on a season-long loan deal in the summer but he has struggled for regular first-team football.
He has made 13 appearances across all competitions and scored once for Reims, including a 60-minute cameo in their goalless draw against Nantes on Sunday (28 January).
However, he is yet to find a permanent position at the club having filled in as a central midfielder in recent weeks.
Prior to his spell at Reims, Wilson-Esbrand spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Championship side Coventry City.

He made 14 appearances for the Sky Blues as they secured a place in the Championship play-offs.
Should he depart City, Wilson-Esbrand will leave having made three appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side – including two in the Champions League last season.
