Sources: Man City to complete Doku signing after breakthrough
Man City are closing in on the signing of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais after agreeing a fee for the winger, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (21 August) that terms have been agreed with the 21-year-old, who currently earns a reported wage of almost £26,000-a-week.
It is believed that Pep Guardiola has personally spoken the Belgium international about his imminent move to the treble-winners.
Doku is now expected to become a Man City player in the coming days with the formalities of his transfer still to be completed.
West Ham have been widely linked with the winger and saw a bid rejected for the youngster earlier in the summer.
He has been targetted by Guardiola’s side as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who completed a big-money move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal earlier in the window.
The youngster opened his account for the new season against Metz on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season but was a substitute against Lens on Sunday (20 August) ahead of his imminent move.
Doku notched seven goals and four assists in 35 club appearances across all competitions last season.
The 21-year-old burst onto the scene for Belgium’s senior side at Euro 2020 and also played for his country at last year’s World Cup in Qatar.
He has scored twice in 14 caps for the Red Devils.

Man City, who have already won the UEFA Super Cup this term, sit alongside Arsenal and Newcastle on maximum points in the Premier League.
Guardiola’s side face newly-promoted Sheffield United on Sunday (27 August).
In other news, Man City now turn attention to signing “next Martin Odegaard”.
