Sources: Man United ready to agree Harry Maguire deal after Saudi update

Manchester United are keen to agree a new contract with Harry Maguire, sources have told Football Insider.

Maguire’s current deal at Old Trafford runs out at the end of the season, which could see him depart after seven years at the club.

After struggling for game time at the start of the campaign, the 32-year-old has started two of the last three matches in the Premier League for Ruben Amorim’s side

Maguire has been linked with a big-money move to the Saudi Pro League in recent weeks, which has brought his future with the Red Devils into question.

Harry Maguire and Man United in agreement over future

There have been claims that Maguire will leave Man United at the conclusion of his current contract due to a lack of game time.

However, sources say that there is a willingness from both the club and the player to agree a new deal.

Maguire is part of Amorim’s leadership group at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils still feel that he can offer something going forward.

United have already conceded 11 goals so far this season, in just seven games, so will be desperate to improve the defensive situation quickly, and clearly believe that the England international is part of the solution.

Man United to block further exits in January

As well as working to keep Maguire at the club, Man United will do everything they can to block Kobbie Mainoo’s exit in January.

Mainoo wasn’t allowed to leave Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, despite pushing hard for a move away.

The 20-year-old is currently behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro in the pecking order under Amorim.

However, the Red Devils are still keen to keep hold of their academy graduate, to ensure they don’t let a big talent slip through their fingers.
