Sources: Man United sensation Rhys Bennet in advanced talks to join new club
Man United defender Rhys Bennett is in advanced talks over a loan move to Stockport County, sources have told Football Insider.
Bennett, 20, is highly rated at Old Trafford and he was part of the squad for the recent FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic.
The centre-back captained United to FA Youth Cup success in 2022 and was handed a new deal at Old Trafford last summer.

A number of EFL clubs have expressed an interest in taking Bennett on loan, but League Two leaders Stockport, who are based in Greater Manchester, are set to win the race for his signature.
The 2003-born ace is yet to make a senior appearance for the Red Devils but has featured in matchday squads on four occasions – his first in United’s EFL Cup fourth-round clash against Burnley in December last season.
Bennett, who was born in Manchester, joined the club at the under-10 level and has since made 62 appearances for the under-18s and the under-23s.
United are now eager for the prospect to earn valuable senior minutes in the fourth tier for the remainder of the season.
The club have multiple youngsters gaining experience out on loan, including Hannibal Mejbri who moved to Sevilla this month.
20-year-old Alvaro Carreras enjoyed a successful six-month spell with Granada before moving to Benfica for the remainder of the season, while Brandon Williams is vying for promotion to the Premier League with Ipswich Town.

Man United sit seventh in the Premier League table after their 2-2 draw to Tottenham on Sunday (14 January).
They are next in action against League Two Newport County in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday 28 January.
