Sources: Marc Guehi’s updated stance on Crystal Palace transfer revealed

Marc Guehi remains happy at Crystal Palace and is unlikely to push through a move away in January despite his impending exit at the end of the season.

This comes in the wake of Crystal Palace’s humiliating FA Cup defeat against sixth-tier Macclesfield, just seven months on from lifting the trophy against Man City.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, renewed interest in from the likes of Man City and Liverpool is unlikely to turn the 25-year-old’s head this month with an end-of-season departure still the expected outcome.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have considered stepping up their interest in the England international this month, despite Oliver Glasner being reluctant to lose his captain mid-season.

However, Football Insider revealed on 10 January that Crystal Palace could accept offers for Guehi should they be presented with something too good to turn down.

Marc Guehi makes new Crystal Palace exit decision

Football Insider revealed last month that Guehi will not push to leave Crystal Palace in January regardless of the level of interest in his signature.

Instead, he is likely to see out the season at Selhurst Park where he will play a huge role in any success the Eagles have, with the Conference League firmly in their sights.

Despite a downturn in results over a manic winter period, Palace are keen to keep their best players, while there is no rush for a deal to be done immediately.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “If the price is right, Palace could end up selling Marc Guehi, because we all know that they’re going to lose out if nothing happens.

“We know Oliver Glasner is determined to keep hold of Guehi, he’s such a key man for him, he’s the club captain as well.

“Marc Guehi is in total control here of his future.

“If he wants to stay at Palace until the end of the season and wait to see what’s on offer as a free agent, he’s more than able to do that.

“Crystal Palace have resigned themselves to that as well, they’re happy to keep him and let him walk out on a free as well.

“I don’t think Guehi is in any rush to make a decision on his future, he’s happy to wait until the summer.”

Who is the front-runner to sign Guehi this summer?

Should Guehi remain at Selhurst Park as expected, there is no shortage of interest in his availability from the elite clubs across Europe.

Man City’s interest has been made clear in recent weeks, while Liverpool remain hopeful of luring him to Anfield and Arsenal have also joined the race.

Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Real Madrid could accelerate their interest in Guehi amid ongoing defensive concerns.

Real Madrid are now able to open talks with Guehi and his agent over a pre-contract agreement which would see him join on a free transfer when his deal expires.

The likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich remain strong contenders for the England international, but Xabi Alonso’s side are keen to beat off their rivals.
